Waste and Resource Mangement
Services:
Whether you require a bund pump-out, wash down, surfactant wash, or man-entry cleaning, our experienced pit and bund cleaning professionals are here to help keep your operations running smoothly.
Containment structures such as pits and bunds are vital lines of defence
in preventing, mitigating and controlling potentially hazardous
events. Pits are often used to collect effluents and process washings,
while bunds tend to contain accidental spillages or rainwater.
As their primary purpose is to collect liquids and other contaminated
substances, pits and bunds alike will quickly and consistently gather
waste. Gathered liquids can often be toxic, and while bunds and pits
are useful in containing them, they need to be dealt with in an appropriate
manner to safeguard the health of both people and the environment.
M. Gaze has significant experience in both the emptying and cleaning
of pits and bunds. Our specialist contractors are available 24 hours a
day, seven days a week, 365 days a year to assist you with any spillage
or routine clean-up.
Whether you require a simple bund pump-out, a wash down, a surfactant
wash, or even a man-entry clean of a deeper pit, we are here to
support you and help keep your operations running without a hitch.

Many industrial and agricultural processes both use and create liquids that can be toxic to both humans the environment. Pits and bunds are used to contain these liquids and prevent them from causing costly or hazardous damages to their surroundings.
In many cases, pits and bunds are a legal requirement. In numerous industries such as oil and gas, tanks, storage vessels and other plants contain hazardous liquids. In the UK, commercial installations exceeding 200 litres and domestic installations exceeding 2,500 litres are required to have a secondary containment solution, such as a pit of bund, by the Environment Agency’s control of pollution regulations.
As well as regular emptying, pit and bunds should be cleaned in order to reduce the need for unplanned maintenance and lengthen life. Many of the hazardous chemicals that these containers hold can cause corrosion if left unaddressed. It’s also worth regularly testing the structural integrity of your pit and bund for this reason – faults in joints and walls can be extremely problematic.
